MANY YEARS AGO, Abraham, the father of faith, entered into a covenant with Abimelech, king of the south (Gen. 21). The cost and witness of the well he dug was seven ewe lambs. The scene is a foreshadow of the provision God has made to man (Heb. 6:17-20). The well symbolizes the living waters He offers through the risen Christ (Jn. 7:37-39).The “seven” ewe lambs represent the Church, the seal and witness of that provision .... (Rom. 8:36).
